Logo

We have chosen to go with this logo which we made using logo creator v5.  In order to use this software we had to download it.  I found that there are some websites available for editing images and such which would be useful for creating a logo such as 'picnik'.  However, this website closed down and was quite slow to use.

We used the colours blue and pink, the reason for this is because it will suit both sexes which are our target audience.  The music symbols in the logo are appropriate as Talk FM includes entertainment, music as well as news.

Equipment we used over the year in media

Over my year at media studies (a-s level) I have used a range of equipment, some I am familiar with and some which I am unfamiliar with.

APPLE MAC COMPUTERS

From the first lesson we have been using the apple mac computers in class, for research, creating and updating our blogs; using audacity and garage band etc.  When using the internet I used safari and Firefox, the search engine I used was Google.  I am now quite familiar with using the softwares on the apple computers and have learnt many things over the process.  For example...

BLUE TOOTH

I am now confidently able to blue tooth files from my phone to the mac computers.  I had to pair both devices by activating the blue tooth and entering a pass key.  This was helpful to be able to do in class so that I could upload the files when needed.  I also took a few pictures on my phone, for example the image of the common room for the EMA story.

VOICE RECORDER

We used voice recorders to record our vox pop, I have given a detailed summary of how it went.  Overall, I found the voice recorders quite easy to use as it is structured simply without various buttons which may confuse me.  However, the quality of the recordings from the voice recorders were of satisfactory quality and not outstanding.  Also, the voice recorder is quite inconvenient as the battery can die at any time and you need to be 100% fully prepared, this is inconveniant for news reporters as they need equipment which is unlikely to not work at the right time (for example in an outside broadcast)

RECORDING MICROPHONE

For the outside broadcast we used the voice recorder as well as a microphone (like the one shown above).  This was harder to use than the voice recorder as I was very unfamiliar with this.  However the outcome of using the microphone was to our advantage.  Even though it suffers the same problem as the voice recorder, battery running out.  The microphone picked up sound very well.  This means that we managed to get good quality recordings to ensure a broadcast which is to the best quality we could produce.

Phones

When we had trouble using the voice recorder we had our phones as back up so we could definitely have a recording.

STUDIO MICROPHONE

When we went into studio we used a microphone as shown above.  This image shows Ruma, my group partner whilst I recorded her speaking into the microphone.  This microphone picked up our voices very clearly, which meant we could create a broadcast to good quality.  We were able to adjust the length of the microphone so that the microphone will be directly near our mouth.
